Grant Proposal Review
The project will begin with a kickoff meeting where we share the draft proposal and walk through it together, aligning on tone, expectations, and a realistic timeline. From there, the volunteer will independently review the document using the Track Changes function, identifying inconsistencies, continuity errors, and areas where the narrative could be stronger or clearer. They will then compile their recommended changes into a summary to share with our team before we move into edits.
The editing phase will involve up to two rounds of revisions, where the volunteer makes the agreed-upon changes directly to the document. We anticipate the full project will require two meetings of roughly one hour each, plus three to five hours of independent review and editing time, which fits comfortably within the two to five hours per week commitment.
As an added bonus, if the volunteer has previously worked with or successfully applied to specific grants, we would welcome their insight on additional funding opportunities our organization may qualify for. Experience reading and interpreting financial documents such as budgets or fiscal statements is also a plus, as grant applications often require this supporting material to be clearly referenced within the narrative.
Our team members will be actively involved throughout the entire project rather than simply stepping back and waiting for a finished product. Whoever the volunteer needs to speak with, whether that is our program lead, finance person, or executive director, will be made available to answer questions, clarify information, and provide any additional documents required. We want the volunteer to feel fully supported and never stuck waiting on information from our end.
We are committed to responding to any communication within 24 hours and will come to both meetings prepared with clear answers and decisions ready to be made, so the volunteer's time is always used productively. Our internal team has full buy-in on this project and understands the importance of being cooperative and responsive partners throughout the writing and revision process.
Once the grant proposal is written and finalized through our agreed revision rounds, it will be submitted directly to the funder by our target deadline. This is a real, active application with direct impact on our ability to fund our programs and serve our community, so the volunteer's contribution will have immediate and meaningful results.
