On-site filming during the March 28 event
Post-event editing and delivery of finalized video assets
Estimated commitment: 2–5 hours per week, concentrated around the event.
Why This Matters:
This project will help us amplify community voices, document lived solutions, and strengthen our ability to attract partners, funders, and volunteers to Detroit-based, community-led development.
This videography project directly supports our mission by helping us amplify community voice and extend the life and reach of this convening beyond one morning. Through professional video storytelling, the volunteer will help us capture the wisdom of elders, the vision of young people, and the solutions emerging from our neighborhood. These stories become tools for education, advocacy, fundraising, and partnership-building—allowing the impact of this event to continue influencing new audiences long after the chairs are folded.
The final video assets will be used to:
Inspire community members to engage in programs that support youth development, workforce pathways, healing-centered arts, and neighborhood revitalization
Demonstrate measurable community engagement to funders and partners
Strengthen grassroots advocacy and attract collaborators aligned with equity and place-based development
Preserve authentic neighborhood narratives that are often underrepresented in traditional media
For volunteers, this project is an opportunity to contribute not just technical skills, but to help elevate voices, build visibility for community-driven solutions, and support a growing movement rooted in dignity, access, and opportunity. Their work will directly impact how Detroit residents are seen, heard, and supported.
In preparation for this project, we will provide the volunteer with a clear event run-of-show, panelist list, filming priorities, and space layout in advance. We will designate a single point of contact from our team to support scheduling, decision-making, and day-of coordination, ensuring quick communication and clarity. All necessary permissions, photo/video release language, and branding guidance will be prepared prior to the event.
Our team will coordinate with the volunteer before the event to walk through goals, equipment needs, audio considerations, lighting conditions, and ideal shot lists. On the day of the event, the volunteer will be welcomed as part of the team, given access to speakers, panelists, and staff support, and provided a defined filming plan so they can focus fully on capturing high-quality content.
After the event, W.I.S.E. Partnership will promptly review drafts, provide consolidated feedback, and support a smooth editing process. The final video assets will be actively implemented across our organization’s communications, including community engagement efforts, donor outreach, grant submissions, social media storytelling, and our website. These materials will become part of our long-term visual library to strengthen sustainability, partnerships, and future programming.
W.I.S.E. Partnership has successfully executed community convenings, youth programming, and public events and understands the importance of preparation, responsiveness, and mutual respect in pro bono partnerships. We value skilled volunteers as collaborators, and we are prepared to provide the structure, communication, and appreciation needed for this engagement to be impactful and rewarding.
