We would like a volunteer to help us build a structured funding research pipeline in preparation for our annual Pink Carpet event and our after-school programming for girls. This includes researching grants, foundations, sponsorship opportunities, and donor prospects that align with our mission.

We need support collecting information, organizing deadlines, eligibility notes, contact details, application requirements, and any other relevant criteria into a clean spreadsheet or simple tracking system. The goal is to create a well-organized list of opportunities that our fundraising team can follow up on throughout the year.

This project will give us a clear starting point for pursuing grants and partnerships, instead of having to search from scratch each time funding windows open. With 2–5 hours a week of volunteer support, we’d like to complete a research-based funding list that prioritizes the most relevant opportunities for our Pink Carpet event and youth programming.
This project directly helps us make our programming accessible to girls who need it most. Black Girl Magic Day creates spaces where girls ages 6–15 can build confidence, see themselves represented, explore creativity, and develop leadership skills. Our annual Pink Carpet event is a joyful celebration that uplifts girls publicly, and our after-school and mentorship programming gives them community and support throughout the year.

To make all of this happen, we need funding. This project helps us research and organize the grants and sponsorship opportunities that allow us to offer our programs at little or no cost to families. The volunteer’s work will become the foundation of our funding pipeline — turning mission into real experiences for real girls.

By helping us identify these opportunities, volunteers are not just building spreadsheets; they are helping build a future where girls feel seen, celebrated, and empowered.
We’ve already done the internal alignment and are building out our development department, so the work from this project will plug directly into our fundraising efforts. We have a defined event (Pink Carpet) and active programming for girls, so the research gathered will be used immediately for outreach, grant cycles, and sponsorship conversations. Our team has the capacity to take the information and move it forward, and we’ve gathered our program info, mission language, and materials so the volunteer doesn’t have to start from scratch.
